Scanner Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Commitment

Scanner processes all your documents entirely on your device. We have no servers, no cloud processing, and no way to access your scanned documents.

Scanner was designed from the ground up with privacy as a core principle. We believe your documents are yours alone.

Data Storage

All data created in Scanner is stored:

On your device — using Apple’s SwiftData framework
In your personal iCloud — if you have iCloud enabled, your data syncs to your own iCloud account for backup and multi-device access

We do not operate any servers or databases. Your documents never pass through our infrastructure because we don't have any.

On-Device Processing

All document processing happens locally on your device:

Text Recognition (OCR) — powered by Apple’s Vision framework, runs entirely on-device
Smart Classification — uses Apple’s on-device AI (Foundation Models), never sends data to external servers
PDF Generation — created locally on your device

No document content, images, or extracted text is ever transmitted to us or any third party for processing.

Data We Don't Collect

We do not collect, store, or have access to:

Your scanned documents or images
Text extracted from your documents
Your personal information
Usage analytics or tracking data
Your location
Your contacts or other personal data

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud, your documents sync using Apple’s CloudKit service. This means:

Data is encrypted and stored in your personal iCloud account
Sync happens directly between your devices and Apple’s iCloud servers
We have no access to your iCloud data
Apple’s privacy policy governs iCloud storage

Camera Access

Scanner requires camera access to scan documents. Photos taken are:

Processed entirely on your device
Stored only in the app's local storage and your iCloud (if enabled)
Never uploaded to any external server

Third-Party Services

Scanner does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not share any data with third parties.

Children's Privacy

Scanner does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since we don't collect personal information from any users, this applies to users of all ages.

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
